John Glenn earned his initial Certified Recovery Planner (CRP) certification in 1999 by successfully completing four increasingly demanding tests developed by the Harris Recovery Institute. The Institute was founded by Norm Harris, considered to be one of the "Fathers" of the Business Continuity industry.

He gained certification as a Member, Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) in 2004 following a critical review of his expertise and accomplishments.
