All effective Business Continuity plans include the following components or functions in the Plan’s second phase:

• Creation of Business Unit response plans to assure that the organization continues to provide at least a minimum level of service.


• Creation of Support Unit response plans to assure that the organization will be restored to business as usual in the most efficient and economical means practicable.


• Creation of an Organization-level plan to support Business and Support plans.


• Personnel awareness and safety training.


• Responder training and exercises to validate the plan and to build responder confidence.


• Maintenance procedures to assure the plan is constantly up-to-date.
